How to get into this sector?
This, in reality, is a huge question. The sector is so wide ranging it is impossible to give specific advice. Obviously there are jobs which need specific qualifications or experience, and the best idea to find out about this is to contact the Careers Service and use the links below to find out a little more.
However the common consensus, like for any course or job, is be able to show a large interest in the area you hope to work in. Volunteer, find internships, get involved in University societies related to the issues you are interested in, keep up to date with the issues involved etc! It is particularly important to make sure you try and get as much experience as possible. Charities in particular, want experience more than anything, which for the most part at the moment often means simply volunteering either at home in the UK or abroad.
Oxford Hub (OxHub) is the focal point for charitable activity at Oxford University. Through events, a website and office, we can connect you with a cause to help tackle the social and environmental challenges of today.
