We are here to make it as easy as possible for you to get involved in whatever type of volunteering you would like to do. Once involved we will support you to make the most of you volunteering experience.
Whether you want to get involved simply to boost your skills or to meet interesting people or if it is your first steps towards changing the world – if it is good for the community we will help make it happen.
Types of opportunities we offer:
Student-led volunteering Projects
We believe that the best way you as an Oxford University Student can make a difference in the community is through volunteering on projects based around the specific needs, skills and passions of the students themselves.
The student-led projects are organised around your workloads and structured term times, whilst providing a variety of opportunities to volunteer in fields that are of particular in interest to you. Through these projects you also get to meet loads of other students and work together on new challenges, having new experiences and hopefully progress the projects to have greater impact on those you seek to support.
Each student-led project typically has between 10 and 20 students volunteering a couple of hours each week or every other week. The project is run by one or more students (as the name suggests) and has a committee of other students who volunteer and support the project in a variety of ways. It is these Coordinators and Committee members which really make the whole thing happen, and we are always looking for more people who have the ability and enthusiasm to get involved. So if you feel you have something to offer, please get in touch.
One-Off opportunities
If to begin with you do not feel you are able to offer as much as a few hours a week, we also provide a number of opportunities to contribute at a single event. Through our one-off events and our taster sessions you are able to really get involved in a variety of ways and can pick and choose when, what and how often. Again, as well as volunteering, if you want to get involved a bit more you can help with the organising or even leading of one of these events. So if you have any ideas or think this could be for you, please get in touch!
Local Charities
In addition to the student-led projects we also offer the opportunity for students to get involved with local and national charities. Through our partnership with the Oxfordshire vinvolved team we are able to put you in contact with a huge number of organisations that provide volunteering opportunities. The vinvolved team are the local experts at matching and placing young people into these opportunities and they are happy to offer what ever additional support you might need.
All of the volunteering we offer is achieved though our work with our community partners. Through this partnership we are able to ensure all our opportunities meet local community need, whilst offering well-managed and high quality placements to our students.
