Environment and Sustainability

Leaves

Student Hubs recognises and supports students passionate about ensuring a greener and more sustainable future for society. Student Hubs works to inform students about climate change and support their involvement in environmental action.

Students not only have a crucial part to play in the transformation to a sustainable, low carbon society, but they also stand to lose most if current emission levels are not cut. However they can also bring the passion, creativity and vision necessary to catalyse the changes society must make to tackle climate change and pioneer the just, sustainable future that we all want.

Helping to tackle climate change, campaign for renewables, push for sustainability, champion home grown food, speak out for indigenous rights...there are so many ways of getting involved to help make our earth a happier place to be!

What we do

We support local projects in our Hub Universities.

We help organise Climate Forums - conferences run in different Hub Universities informing students on the issues of climate change and inspiring them to take action.

We're developing our national reach and uniting with other great charities and organisations.

We give advice on green careers, ethical careers and offer students the chance to partake in ethical internships.

A bi-weekly greenies newsletter is sent out keeping students posted on local Hub news, opportunities and international news. Email environment@studenthubs.org to join the mailing list or to ask to have issues, events, projects advertised. For previous editions click here.

Beyond The Brink

Watch the trailer for Beyond The Brink, a young filmmaker's take on the climate change debate. The film includes interviews with Sir David Attenborough, Mark Lynas, the UKYCC and Prof Dieter Helm. It is a refreshing take on a familiar topic and a call to action for our generation.
