Information for Existing Volunteers

So you've signed up to volunteer on one of our community volunteering projects - welcome! We do hope that the project will meet your expectations, but we want you to know that there's plenty more on offer for you alongside the time you spend at your project each week.

ohcvregister.jpgBut WAIT! before we dive into all the exiting things on offer for our community volunteers - have you filled in our volunteer registration form? A new form should be filled in for every project you volunteer on, even if you've filled it in before. So go on... do it now... it will only take 30 seconds and will mean we you'll receive all the up to date information on your project. Fill me in now!

Support on offer

There's lots of support on offer for volunteers from Oxford Hub. To get started, choose from the following options:

Want to get more involved?

If you love your volunteering project, but want to get more involved, there are two main ways you can do this:

1. BECOME A PROJECT COORDINATOR

Chances are if you already volunteer on a project, you'll know your project coordinator - or at least you will have received many an email from them! Coordinators overseeing the running of projects, leading volunteers in the project's activities, as well as managing strategy and fundraising.

Being a project coordinator is a fantastic opportunity to get deeper into the local Oxford community, leading students to make positive social change on a pressing local issue. If you're interested in being a coordinator, then express your interest now by emailing Amy onsupport@oxfordhub.org. There may not be an immediate opportunity to be a coordinator, but we're always keen to hear from interested students, so that we can fill positions with the best candidates when the opportunities arise.

2. JOIN  THE OXFORD HUB COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERING (OH:CV) COMMITTEE

OH:CV is led by student coordinator Eleri and is supported by Oxford Hub Support Officer Amy. There are also a number of Student Support Officers, who work with project coordinators and volunteers to ensure a smooth day to day running of the projects. Together this group form the OH:CV committee who set the strategic direction of OH:CV as a whole, as well as organising training and networking sessions for OH:CV.

If you're an experienced volunteer and you think you'd like to get involved in OH:CV on this level - get in touch with Amy on support@oxfordhub.org to find out about current opportunities.

You're part of a network...

As a community volunteer you are part of a network of over 500 Oxford University students committed to positively impacting the local Oxford Community. At Oxford Hub we're keen to continually strengthen and expand this network and we hold regular networking and appreciation events to bring our community of volunteers together.

Our most recent event was in December 2011, when we welcomed our project coordinators and community partners to join us for an evening of drinks, nibbles and inspiring discussion about the change that our projects can make in the local community.

The next date for the diary is our Community Day on Saturday 3rd March - when we're throwing open the doors of our Turl Street Venue to one and all to come and find out about the work we do in the local community. We'd love to see as many of our wonderful volunteers there as possible - so do keep your eyes and ears peeled for more info in due course.

In addition to Oxford Hub events, individual project coordinators organise regular social events for their volunteers - so if you feel you haven't hung out with your fellow volunteers for a while, then drop you're project coordinator a line about getting something organised! For any additonal support, advice or questions about volunteering with OH:CV, contact Oxford Hub Support Officer on support@oxfordhub.org, or drop in any time and find her on the second floor of Oxford Hub's Turl Street home!
