The Oxford Climate Forum
The Oxford Climate Forum is recruiting!

On 25th-26th January, Hilary 2013, the fourth Oxford Climate Forum
will be held. OCF is the biggest student conference of its kind, connecting
the leading thinkers and doers in the climate sector with students who are
passionate about the issues at stake.
Early bird tickets will go on sale later in Michaelmas - but if youʼre interested in
playing a bigger role, take a look at the committee positions on offer. If you want to
be part of our team, e-mail Sean, Pablo and Grace on climateforum@oxfordhub.org no later
than Friday 19th October (2nd week). Please briefly outline any relevant
experience you have in your chosen role – the most important thing, though, is an
interest in climate change and a commitment to throwing a fantastic event. Interviews
will be held at the end of 3rd week.
****SPEAKER ENGAGEMENT: this team is responsible for the core of the
conference: setting the agenda, inviting speakers, and coming up with ideas and
topics for sessions (debates, panel discussions, etc.). A strong interest in climate
change is essential, as well as good research skills!
****MARKETING: the marketing team will be in charge of promoting OCF to students
in Oxford and nationwide. Tap existing student networks from environmental groups,
student unions and social entrepreneurs, and get a diverse group of people excited
about the event!
****INTERNET: working closely with marketing, you will be responsible for all aspects
of OCFʼs web presence – its website (driven by Weebly), Facebook pages,
groupspaces, and Twitter feed. Technical skills such as HTML may come in useful
but we are especially looking for someone who is comfortable with IT and who knows
how to generate buzz online!
****EVENT MANAGEMENT: will take charge of the OCF team for food, venue details
and crash space management, making sure the details of the event run smoothly.
****SPONSORSHIP: we are putting together a dynamic team to source sustainable
funding for the conference from corporate sponsors. The Oxford Hub is part of a
registered charity, so we need proactive and persuasive minds to help boost our
budget!
****MEDIA: liaise with local and national newspapers and online networks to raise the
profile and coverage of OCF as much as possible.
****COLLEGE REP: publicise the conference within the college and raise funding
from JCR/MCR.
****CONFERENCE STAFF: on the day of the event, we will need a small army of
volunteers to manage delegates and associated crises. If you are interested in
helping in a small but crucial capacity, make yourself known to us!
