Impact 2012
The Conference
The Impact conference is the authoritative voice on student volunteering across the UK. Several hundred students meet annually to discuss the major themes affecting the movement, attracting student leaders and managers as well as volunteers and co-ordinators.
Representing the full breadth of volunteering in the higher education sector, this year Impact is set to be the biggest national student volunteering conference for over 20 years, attracting speakers and supporters from a huge variety of fields.
The conference offers opportunities to network as well as share ideas for projects. Speakers will offer guidance for making projects successful, as well as discussions surrounding the future of the movement.
Themes
The conference will cover several major themes relevant to the implementation of student volunteering, including
- project management
- volunteer training and support
- finance and fundraising
- student leadership
- communications
- volunteering: legal need-to-know
Also at conference will be the chance to learn about themes relevant to the area, such as
- careers in the voluntary sector
- where next for student volunteering?
- international volunteering opportunities
- social action and social enterprise
- volunteering as social education
The Committee
In preparation for the conference, a student volunteering committee will meet to discuss the subjects that Impact 2012 will cover. Drawn from across the UK, the committee exists to reflect the extent of volunteering taking place, and therefore to act as a microcosm of the conference itself.
