Every year Warwick Hub organises countless conference and speaker events which bring inspiring speakers to the University to discuss everything from development to sustainability to social enterprise. See some regular highlights below:

Warwick Climate Forum

warwickclimateforumlogoRGB.pngIn February 2012, People & Planet's 'Go Green Week' culminated in a joint event, the Warwick Climate Forum. The Forum brings together students and thought-leaders for a day of debate and discussion in search of practical solutions to the global environmental challenge.

Past speakers at the Warwick Climate Forum have included John Vidal, Environment Editor at The Guardian, Dougald Hine, Co-Founder of the Dark Mountain Project.

In November 2012, the Warwick Climate Forum took place once again, as a collaboration between Warwick Hub and Warwick People and Planet. The conference focused on technological solutions to climate change, with speakers including Phil Thornhill (Campaign Against Climate Change) and Danny Chivers, Author of The No-Nonsense Guide to Climate Change.

Beyond the Bottom Line: The Warwick Emerge Forum

In January 2013, the first student - led social enterprise conference took place at the University of Warwick. The student - led sister conference of 'Emerge', Beyond the Bottom Line aimed to raise awareness of what social enterprise is, inspiring students to either set up their own social ventures or pursue a career in the social enterprise sector.

Speakers included: John Bird (Founder, The Big Issue), Nick Temple (Social Enterprise UK) and Theresa Burton (Buzzbnk).

Warwick International Aid Forum 2013

WIAF2cRGB.jpgWarwick International Aid Forum took place in February 2013 at the University of Warwick, inviting speakers to discuss the pertinent topic of international aid, and it's role in international development.

The forum combined lectures, panel discussions and workshops; introducing and developing relevant issues and encouraging debate amongst both speakers and attendees.

Speakers included: John Hilary (War on Want) and Duncan Green (Oxfam).

Warwick Higher Education Summit 2012

The Warwick Higher Education Summit brought together students, academics, policy-makers and researchers to discuss the big issues surrounding higher education. The Summit was founded in 2012 in response to the government's changes to higher education funding.

The one-day summit brought esteemed speakers together for a series of panel discussions issues big and small, from the specifics around fees to the place of higher education in the modern world.

whes1.jpgSpeakers at the 2012 Summit included Shabana Mahmood, Shadow Minister for Higher Education, Sir Alan Langlands, CEO of the Higher Education Funding Council for England, Liam Burns, NUS President, Sir Richard Lambert, Chancellor of Warwick University and Pam Tatlow, Chief Executive of Think-Tank Million Plus as well as representatives from NCCPE, QAA, Student Hubs, New Economics Foundation and the New Statesman.
