Connect Oxford brings together younger and older people in Oxford and creates positive 1:1 friendships.
Once a week
Connect Oxford matches younger and older people in Oxford City. The pairs will meet once a week and do a range of activities together, whatever suits the pair. When you first meet, you will write a 'bucket list', to create a list of things that they want to do together, whether that be listening to music, going for afternoon tea, attending local group activities or going to the theatre together.
You will build mutual friendship over time that help older people in Oxford City be active and do things that they are now less able to do without company. Our matches will provide connection (with each other and the wider community), and company as well as a lot of fun to both people.
Building an intergenerational friendship will help you feel more connected to your local community, help to tackle isolation and loneliness and bring older and younger people together.
We are looking for volunteers who are willing to commit 2-3 hours a week for a minimum of a year, with the opportunity to continue.
In collaboration with Age UK, you will receive training, then be introduced to your match and recieve ongoing support and trouble shooting from the team.
To sign up as a volunteer fill in this short form and we'll get in touch with next steps!
