LinkAges Connect Oxford
Connect Oxford brings together younger and older people in Oxford and creates positive 1:1 friendships.
Once a week
Oxford City
LinkAges Connect is an active befriending project for younger and older people in Oxford City.
The pairs will meet once a week and do a range of activities together, whatever suits the pair. When you first meet, you will write create a list of things that you want to do together, whether that be going for afternoon tea, attending local group activities, lunch clubs, IT classes or going to the theatre together.
You will build mutual friendship over time that help older people in Oxford City be active and do things that they are now less able to do without company. Our matches will provide connection (with each other and the wider community), and company as well as a lot of fun to both people.
Befriending through an intergenerational friendship will help you feel more connected to your local community, help to tackle isolation and loneliness and bring older and younger people together.
We are looking for volunteers who are willing to commit 2-3 hours a week for a minimum of a year, with the opportunity to continue.
In collaboration with Age UK, you will receive training, then be introduced to your match and receive ongoing support and trouble shooting from the team.
To sign up as a volunteer fill in this short form and we'll get in touch with next steps!
If you want to refer an older person to the scheme, please do so here
