Learn to make environmental change happen through effective, transformative engagement with others.
What is the Green Labs programme?
Green Labs is a programme run by Oxford Hub and funded by the Department of Environmental Sustainability at the University of Oxford, for people who want to learn to make change happen through having effective conversations with those around them. You will design, implement and evaluate your own environmental sustainability-related interventions.
Green Labs is a six week programme. Sessions will take place on Tuesdays from 4-5.30pm, starting on 29th October, at 4 Worcester St.
What does the programme involve?
You will attend sessions and gain transferable skills to improve your effectiveness and impact.
Lead and facilitate positive change
Improve your ability to understand and tackle environmental challenges
Learn how to engage the disengaged
Put your skills into action, through iterative design, implementation and reflection
In the six weeks, you will develop an environment-related intervention, big or small, with a group. You need no prior knowledge to take part. The programme has a focus on listening and communicating for positive impact, Action-Experiment Cycles, strategic change-making, and advocacy and influencing.
Participants will need to complete preparatory work for each session, spending an estimated 3 hours per week working on their intervention and doing prep work.
Who can apply?
We accept applications from everyone, whether you’re a university student or you’ve lived in Oxford for 50 years. Selection is made following an application and an interview.
We're looking for self-motivated individuals with initiative and interest in the environment, who want to explore and implement innovative solutions to sustainability challenges. Your existing skills will be complemented by a programme of in-depth training. Engage for Change lasts for 6 weeks, with opportunities to deepen your learning through ongoing mentoring and support. If selected for the programme, you will receive training and support to help you develop the skills needed to meet the challenge.
The deadline for applications is Friday 18th October 2019.
