One of the Thurdsday session takes place at the Cutteslowe Community Centre in Wren Road, a 15 minute bike ride or bus trip from the City Centre. We need volunteers to help at the Stay and Play. The session is 10am-12pm, you would need to arrive at 9.45am to help set up! Volunteers can help play with the children, interact with families or help serve lunch at 11.45. You can stay for the lunch session or finish at this time.
The other Thursday session takes place at Rose Hill Methodist Church, 10 minute bike ride from the City Centre. Sessions take place on Thursday 12.30pm to 2.30pm, we need volunteers to help set up activities and interact with the children.
The Slade will also be launching a music session which will be "An opportunity for you to inspire young children musically by spending time with a group of children and their class teacher" with a chance to show the children your musical instrument, how you make different sounds and play simple tunes e.g. nursery rhymes. This will be followed by a tea time concert – the children, teachers and parents from the class you have visited will be invited to a small tea time concert. - Approx 1 hour per week on Thursday afternoons from around 2.30-3.30pm
Our Friday session is Messy Play in Cutteslowe Pavilion, a 15 minute bike ride or bus trip from the City Centre. Sessions take place on Fridays 10am to 12pm, and we need volunteers to get involved in supporting play activities, children and families.
New Session
Starting in January we will also have another new sessions starting at The Slade Nursery, Woodfarm!! A reading session (Time TBC), where you will be able to choose from the nurseries large selection of books and sit in the lovely reading area, reading 1-1 with a child or with a small group!
We are asking people to commit to 2 weeks in a row, and then decide whether they want to be involved on a weekly / fortnightly / termly basis in the future. A DBS check and opportunities for training will be available for regular volunteers.
If you want to get involved simply register here and a member of the Oxford Hub team will be in touch with you. If you have any questions, just email us at ellie@oxfordhub.org
