How to get involved

With FELLOW there are a variety of volunteering opportunities. There are lots of different ways to get involved! We’ve detailed these below.

Oxford Residents

Teaching Positions:

If you live in Oxford full time you can get involved in weekly teaching to small groups of learners at The Oxford Hub, St. Michael's and Cutteslowe Community Centre.

Volunteer teachers need some previous experience in teaching a language. Previously volunteers have found this a really rewarding experience (and great in terms of developing leadership, communication and organisation as well as teaching skills).

1:1 English Tutoring:

You can also get involved with our 1 to 1 support for learners. You will be matched with a learner and meet up to help practice their English conversation. This opportunity is very flexible and you are able to meet up at a time that suits you both.

We will be matching new 1:1 pairs soon - sign up below now to get involved!

Volunteering opportunities for residents are currently CLOSED.

Fill out our expression of interest form and we will be in touch when they open.

University Students

If you're not in Oxford full time because you're a student or visiting, you can get involved by volunteering as a teaching assistant at the classes listed above or offering extra 1-to-1 support.

Teaching Assistants:

Teaching assistants play a vital role in the successful delivery of lessons at FELLOW. Teachers need support in ensuring that the environment is safe, effective and welcoming for the learners. You'll support the teacher with activities, help with monitoring and answer learner queries.

Accessibility

Oxford Hub is committed to making our activities inclusive to everyone. We can make reasonable adjustments to application processes, training sessions, volunteering projects and other activities, and can reimburse expenses such as bus tickets.

We also provide ongoing support for the people we work with, so if you have particular accessibility needs, including special educational needs, please do get in touch at hello@oxfordhub.org and let us know how we can make the activity more accessible.
